Information

The Calumet Regional Science Fair is one of the oldest and longest tax-exempt organizations that promotes science and engineering in Lake County, Indiana. We are associated with both the Indiana State Science and Engineering Association and with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Each year, approximately 6000 students in grades 1-12 participate in science fairs and over 200 in our regional science fair. Five senior students, three middle school students, and three elementary school students, plus one team of two or three High school students are chosen to continue on and compete in the state science fair. The two top senior high students also represent our fair at the Intel International Fair. One pair fron the twelve at the state competition will go on to the international science fair.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world's largest pre-college celebration of science. Held annually in May, the Intel ISEF brings together over 1,400 students from 47 nations to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize: $50,000 college scholarship and a high-performance computer. Science Service founded the ISEF in 1950 and is very proud to have Intel as the title sponsor of this prestigious, international competition.
